GreenSocks makes lawn mowing easy. We help people who need their lawns mowed by sending their mowing job to businesses who would like to mow more lawns. It’s a click and forget solution. You book the mowing job and we make sure the job gets done.
But we don’t send jobs to just anyone. We vet providers by checking their mowing business ABN, drivers licence, website (if they have one) and we phone interview every mowing provider before they’re approved to receive jobs.
We help customers get their lawn mowed
Instant pricing – Book in 60 seconds – save your time and your sanity.
Fun and easy to book – No more wasted time calling multiple providers to find someone available or struggling to guess who’s good. And no more dodgy providers showing up to pressure you with competing quotes. (Don’t you hate that?)
Peace of mind – Our providers are covered with a $10 million public liability insurance policy for jobs booked via GreenSocks
Switch providers anytime – Regular customers can change their provider at any time!
We help lawn care providers get more work
We book real jobs – We don’t waste your time competing for going-nowhere quotes
No upfront fees – We hate listing/franchise fees charged before you make your first dollar
Quality customers – Each job is secured with a customer credit card, so it’s legit
Get paid fast – Usually within 1-3 business days
$10 million insurance cover – Why pay $500-$1000 a year yourself? *excess applies on claims
We’re genuinely nice people – And we’d love to do business with you!
Why the name GreenSocks?
Do you know how when you mow the lawn, the green grass clippings go all over your socks? That’s where our name comes from: GreenSocks.
Richard Eastes is a business guy and computer geek with a secret love of lawn mowing. Just for fun, he’s been known to try to out-mow and out-green the lawns of his Brisbane neighbours. His background includes running the car insurance comparison site Captain Compare (sold in 2010) and the successful car rental startup VroomVroomVroom (in which he is still a shareholder).
Andrea Martins is a busy work-from-home Sunshine Coast mum who never gets time to mow her lawn. In her search for a reliable and trusted lawn care provider, she’s had contractors not return her calls, refuse to quote on the phone, not show up, overcharge, leave cigarette butts in her garden, and accidentally over-poison (and kill) her grass and even her family’s guinea pig! Her background includes running the global resource site Expat Women (sold in 2014).
Meet the Team
We are a team of four, fun, dedicated people trying to make a difference. Pictured here with Shark Tank’s Steve Baxter at his River City Labs – which was our home while we were on the River City Labs startup accelerator.
If you’re interested in the day Richard and Andrea finally met, the day Richard nearly gave up, the story of our first lawnmowing job, why the Prime Minister hated Richard’s other startup idea, lessons from Startup Weekend, whether you really need a business plan for your new business idea, doing things that don’t scale, and other lessons we’re learning along the way, we invite you to join us on our Startup Journey and share your stories too.
Newsflash (14 September 2015): GreenSocks was honoured to be one of five Queensland startups who have just started on River City Labs’ first accelerator program in Brisbane. Visit our startup blog for all the stories!
