Almost 11 hectares of glorious green lawn in Kedron
Known as a clean, friendly suburb that is well serviced by public transport as well as public and private schools, Kedron has a pretty cool feature in that it has a creek that runs right through it. Kedron Brook is a long, winding watercourse (that admittedly, is famous for flooding, but every year Council makes improvements to it). It provides a picturesque environment for walkers, cyclists and dog owners who love to take their pooches for a quick dip in the off-leash areas.
Mercer Park is an enormous expanse of green space in inner suburban Kedron. It offers a whopping 10.95 hectares of well-maintained lawns plus plenty of open areas to run around with the kids, kick a footy, throw a Frisbee or fly a kite.
The park is easily accessed by the pedestrian and bike path which traces the brook, or by car. Parking is available along any of the surrounding streets.
Located within Mercer Park are Kedron and District Football Club, Kedron Scouts, plus Mercer Park Football Club. It’s also where you’ll find Shaw Park Tennis Centre if you feel like a hit of tennis while we’re getting your lawn mowed in Kedron.
For the adventurous, there’s a BMX facility that’s accessed via Nabiac Street, where the cool kids go to test out their latest tricks and work off a whole lot of energy.
Mercer Park also features a fitness station and playground so there’s tons to do amongst the wide open spaces.
If you like a bit of wildlife in the inner suburbs, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the odd sighting of the local bush turkeys, possums and birdlife. There are even turtles, ducks and eels in the brook, all of which provide endless fascination for the kids and canine family members.
Kedron offers fabulous quality of life for residents with its abundance of public transport options, great medical facilities, proximity to major shopping centres and of course, the wide open spaces. It’s a relatively safe suburb with so much to offer and with Mercer Park the jewel in its crown, it’s no wonder it’s a popular place to be.
