What is GreenSocks and how does it work?
GreenSocks is an online marketplace for lawn mowing services. When you book a lawn mowing job on our site, we offer your job to the best-matched lawn mowing provider (based on location, availability and customer ratings) registered on our marketplace. We also check in with them after the job, to keep them accountable, as well as checking in with you to make sure you’re happy with their work.

Do I need to be home for my lawn mowing?
No. Just leave any special instructions (such as access tips, gates, instructions regarding dogs) on the booking form and the providers will know what to do. You can be out at work, at the movies, or even at home taking a nap (…if you can sleep through the whirr of a lawnmower)!
What time will the lawn mower person come?
If you have any special requests, just mark these on the booking form. We read these forms quickly so there shouldn’t be any need to call us. But if it gives you greater peace of mind, you’re always welcome to call. Our number is 07 3102 3344.
Just remember that as per local council regulations, lawn mowing noise cannot start before 7am (or 8am on Sundays) and must be complete by 7pm. (So if you want to annoy your neighbours after this time, you’ll have to think of another way, sorry.)
Can GreenSocks organise other garden services?
Yes. We can organise lawnmowing, weeding, hedging and more. If you don’t see it on our booking form, just give us a call and we’ll definitely try to help you.
Why do you need my credit card?
We promise our lawn mowing providers that we’ll collect the money for their jobs and ensure they get paid. To do that, ask for your credit card once you’ve made a booking. We don’t charge your card until after the lawn mowing job is complete (and we’ve checked in with you). But we do authorise the agreed amount on your card, so that our lawn mowing providers know they’ll get paid for their effort.
Are the lawn mowing providers GreenSocks' employees?
No. Each lawn mowing provider has their own ABN and lawn mowing business. They control how they mow the lawn, what they wear and how their service operates. Some are lawn care professionals who mow lawns full-time. Some are part-timers who mow lawns to help pay the bills. We welcome all reliable lawn mowers into our marketplace. The more hardworking Aussies who want to earn extra money to feed their families, the more we want to support them!
Can anyone sign up to mow lawns?
Yes, if they have the essential equipment (lawn mower, whipper snipper, blower or broom, and transport) – and they run their own business (and have an ABN). Whilst 99% of our mowing provider network is made up of full-time lawn mowing pros, we have had a policeman, fireman, postman, cleaners, general handymen, a geologist, arborists and horticulturists sign up to mow lawns too. If they can mow well, everyone is welcome. Including franchise guys from Jims Mowing, VIP Mowing, Express Mowing, James Home Services and more!
But how do you know who's good?
You tell us who’s good and who’s not, because we ask our customers for a rating after every job. These ratings are important because each time a job comes through, we first offer it to the highest-customer-rated provider who services that area. If a provider gets bad reviews, they won’t be sent new jobs and they won’t stay on our marketplace long.
But honestly, we screen our providers by phone first, and most of our providers are getting 5 star ratings (with some customers trying to give more), so rest assured that we’re only sending your jobs to lawnmowing providers who we would send to do our own lawns.
Why the name GreenSocks?
Great question. You know how when you mow the lawn, the green grass clippings go all over your socks? That’s where our name comes from: GreenSocks. Plus, Jim’s Mowing was already taken. Smile.
When did GreenSocks launch?
GreenSocks launched in May 2015. We put a test message in a Brisbane Facebook Group and after being inundated with the response (48 sign-ups and over 200 comments) in just a few days, we decided to open up for customers within a week
