5 Ways That Robina Surprised Its Critics

Robina is one of the best suburbs to live in on the Gold Coast. But how did a swampy cow paddock bought for $4 per acre in 1965, surprise its critics and become such a highly sought after place to live? Here are 5 ways (feel free to add more in the comments section):

1. Starting with a Bold Vision

The Robina we know today can be credited to the partnership between grazier/realtor Arthur Earle and Singaporean real estate developer Dr Robin Loh, when in 1980, they purchased 20 square kilometres of grazing land with a grand Walt Disney style vision to turn the area into something special. They subsequently formed the Robina Land Corporation, which led the development into a residential and commercial hub now home to more than 30,000 people (that’s lots of lawns to mow!) and a workforce 20,000 strong. 2. Becoming Known for High Quality Education

Of all the suburbs on the Gold Coast, Bond University chose Robina to be the home of its main campus. This was no small gesture. It validated Robina as a prestigious new place to live, and from a humble start of 322 students in 1989, Bond University now attracts more than 4,000 students (some of whom mow lawns to help pay their fees!), their families and their lecturers from more than 80 countries. That’s a lot of spending money being injected daily into Robina and surrounding suburbs. Source

In addition to Bond University (which does not offer subjects in landscaping or garden care), Robina also offers six childcare centres, one State primary school and one State high school.

3. Designing a First Class Health Hub

There are only two public hospitals on the Gold Coast and Robina is home to one of them – the six-largest in hospital in Queensland! The hospital includes clinical teaching facilities for Bond and Griffith Universities. It is located close to the Robina Health Precinct – a $36.31 million facility that co-locates a range of health services for ease of access for Gold Coast locals in the Robina area.

3. Building a Sensational Shopping Experience

While we send someone to do your Robina lawnmowing, you can literally lose yourself in the 350 retail outlets (covering 84 acres!) that make Robina Town Centre one of the best and biggest places to shop on the Gold Coast. Major tenants include Myer, David Jones, Big W, Kmart, Target, Coles, two Woolworths stores, Event Cinemas, an Apple Store, and much, much more.

4. Completing a World Class Sports Stadium

In early 2008, the Robina Stadium (known now as its sponsored name, Cbus Super Stadium) opened to better serve the Gold Coast sports community. A junior version of Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium (perhaps because it was designed by the same company), Robina’s sports stadium can seat 27,400 people (compared to Suncorp Stadium’s 74,500).

Cbus Super Stadium is the home ground to the National Rugby League’s Gold Coast Titans, the LFL Australia’s Queensland Brigade, the Gold Coast Sevens, and amateur Australian Rules Football clubs (the Robina Roos and the Bond University Bullsharks).

By the way, we’re loving the beautiful green lawn on their field!

5. Creating a Golf Haven

Former swampy cow paddock Robin a now boasts four high quality golf courses! So, there’s no shortage of finely-manicured, green golfing lawns in Robina for both the serious and/or leisure players. Robina Golf Courses by name? Robina Woods, Glades, Palmer Colonial and Palmer Gold Coast.

Where is Robina?

Gold Coast suburb Robina is located approximately 16km from Surfers Paradise and 80km from Brisbane. Neighbouring suburbs include: Clear Island Waters, Merrimac, Broadbeach, Broadbeach Waters, Mermaid Waters, Varsity Lakes, Tallai, Miami, Burleigh Heads, Reedy Creek and Mudgeeraba. In other words, Robina sits right in the middle of lots of Gold Coast suburbs with lots of lawns to mow and we can help with nearly all of them!
