Whilst not as intense or exciting as week 11 in Sydney, we all continued working hard in week 12 of our River City Labs (muru-D) startup accelerator program. GreenSocks gained another awesome team member. Steve Baxter’s group ran a free two-day conference. Outbound won some prizes. We served our biggest lawn mowing job yet. And more…
TLI Conference at River City Labs
Steve Baxter’s Transition Level Investments ran an awesome two-day conference at River City Labs, featuring some of Steve’s investments from Shark Tank Australia’s first season, plus speakers such as: Will Davies from Car Next Door; Felice Testini from Trade Partners; Garry Thomson from Uplifting Australia; Georgie Scott from CTD Australia; and Jessica Ruhfus from Collabosaurus.
Transition Level Investments’ portfolio includes: Right Pedal Studios; Indoor Skydiving Australia; DoseMe; Trektraka; Orion VM; Other Levels; Cohortpay; Ollo Mobile; goCatch; TXT4Coffee; Atomo Diagnostics; The Scrubba; Bottlepops; Rescue Swag; Ruby and Ollie’s; and Those Girls Iced Tea. Alumni include Intraserve Group and CBO Telecommunications.
Outbound win $500 from our muru-D Co-Founders
Co-founders of muru-D, Annie Parker and Charlotte Yarkoni (President, Telstra Software Group) visited River City Labs to review the muru-D/River City Labs accelerator program’s progress. They were kept busy with some closed door meetings and then some team pitching from GreenSocks, Puntaa, Outbound, ParkFit and Process PA. Big congrats go to Mark and Ryan from Outbound who walked away with $500 for best pitch of the day!
Welcome to Tina Rider
GreenSocks is very excited to announce that our second employee, Tina Rider started this week. Together with our first hire, Melisa Radak, Tina’s going to be focussed on coordinating customer lawn mowing bookings with mowing providers (plus much more).
Tina most recently worked as a Senior Business Development Manager at APM PriceFinder – Domain Group (a division of Fairfax Media). She also has a background in the banking and automotive industries. She’s a huge fan of Steve Baxter and Shark Tank – hence the proud selfie with Steve in week one.

Puntaa’s Cheeseburger Challenge
Startup accelerator team Puntaa’s weekly internal challenge on their app was a cheeseburger challenge at River City Labs. GreenSocks co-founder Richard was keen, but the prize ultimately went to the hungrier guy. Congrats Harry! Outbound win again this week.
Our Biggest Lawn Mowing Job Yet
This week, we had our biggest lawn mowing job yet – superstar Alan Prince put in s-e-v-e-n-t-e-e-n hours!
Thankfully, the end result was a customer very happy to get to their pool again. And you wouldn’t believe it… they turned out to be massive Star Wars fans, so Richard rewarded them with some free tickets to the Star Wars premiere at Southbank, Brisbane, from his secret supply!
Puntaa raising a Seed Round
Big news… the boys at Puntaa are on a mission to raise $750k in a seed round. Can someone please, either invest, or at least donate Nick a new pair of shoes? #StartupLife

Santa visits River City Labs
Who needs a jacket when you get cold in meeting room one at River City Labs? Turns out there’s a Santa outfit in there that does the job pretty well, says Richard. Ho, ho, ho and Merry Christmas to all!
And, that’s a wrap!
Have an awesome week!
In our next update, we’ll have the highlights from our big Demo Day. Stay tuned…
