Week 13 was all about Demo Day. So, apart from an unexpected detour for a photo shoot for The Courier Mail, everything else this week was about pitch practice, pitch feedback, venue inspections and getting ready for Demo Day.
GreenSocks featured with Malcolm Turnbull PM
Thanks to River City Labs Manager Josh Anthony, GreenSocks scored an unexpected joint page in The Courier Mail on Tuesday for the launch of PM Malcolm Turnbull’s National Innovation and Science Agenda. Thanks Josh!
Sydney muru-D Class 3 announced
While we were preparing for Demo Day in Brisbane, muru-D HQ in Sydney celebrated the end of applications, interviews and an intensive boot camp, to proudly announce the ten very diverse teams in their 2016 Sydney muru-D class 3 intake. Congrats guys!
BOQ & muru-D Angel Investor Dinner
On Wednesday night, we were treated to a fancy dinner at BOQ. Four of our five accelerator teams(GreenSocks, Puntaa, Outbound, ProcessPA) pitched our startups to the angel investors and BOQ guests. Steve Baxter (River City Labs and Shark Tank), Dale Rankine (FutureNow Ventures), Annie Parker (muru-D) and Donna-Maree Vinci (BOQ Group Executive, Enterprise Solutions) also shared the stage. Lots of great energy in the room. Thanks so much BOQ!
Demo Day
This week saw Demo Day – the climax of our first three months in the River City Labs (muru-D) startup accelerator – at the Palace Barracks Cinema in Brisbane. With the 200 seats oversold, the expectations were high. Thankfully, all teams delivered on the night – inclusive of a dramatic glass crashing down the stairs at the end.

Finally, the week ended with RCL’s annual Christmas party in New Farm Park River City Labs. Thanks everyone for coming and thanks to the RCL crew for organising!
And, that’s a wrap!
Next week will be our last weekly update, because it’s the last week of our intensive 14 week program. The next part of our program will not be as intensive, so we’ll only blog when we have news to tell – which hopefully, will still be often, but not weekly. Have a fantastic week Everyone and thanks for supporting GreenSocks and the RCL (muru-D) accelerator teams!
