3 Places to Visit in Caloundra

1. Relax on some green lawn near the beach

If you mow your own lawn and you’ve just finished a couple of hours on the lawn mower, grab your loved ones and venture down to the coastline to relax on some nice green lawn near one of Caloundra’s beautiful beaches, to get some gorgeous water views.

2. Queensland Air Museum

The Queensland Air Museum, located in inland Caloundra, is a really interesting afternoon out to learn about local aviation heritage and to inspect some of the preserved aircraft on the lawn outside. (The photo would look nicer if they painted the lawn, don’t you think?)

3. Caloundra Music Festival

The Caloundra Music Festival is the Sunshine Coast’s major music event each year. This year’s event will be held 2-5 October 2015 and we can’t wait. Here’s a video of last year’s event. Check out how many times they show people dancing on the green lawn, walking on the lawn, sleeping on the lawn and partying on the lawn – there’s green lawn everywhere – wonder if they need someone to mow the lawn?

Where is Caloundra?

Caloundra is one of the Sunshine Coast’s main urban centres (together with Maroochydore, Kawana Waters, Noosa Heads, Nambour and Maleny).

Surrounding suburbs include: Caloundra West; Moffat Beach; Dicky Beach; Golden Beach; Little Mountain; Pelican Waters; Bells Creek; Glenview; Palmview; Currimundi; Wurtulla; Bokarina; Warana; and beyond.

Interesting fact from Wikipedia? During World War II, Caloundra was important to Australia’s defence, due to defensive positions along the coastline. Both Australian and US armed forces came to Caloundra and radar stations and machine gun pits were mounted.
