Do you know where to find The Golden Mile?

If you thought only Sydney’s coastline or north shore areas drew the big ticket home prices, think again. House prices in Sydney’s West (both with and without large lawns) have fetched over $6 million!

The Golden Mile in Strathfield is one such example. It refers to a pocket within the suburb that houses some of the most desirable and highly sought-after real estate in the area. It is bounded by Hunter Street, Carrington Avenue, Homebush Road and The Boulevarde.

 

 

Some of the homes located on Llandilo Avenue (as pictured below), Strathfield Avenue, Cotswold Road, Agnes and Highgate Street represent examples of this prestigious Sydney address.

This one (23-25 Llandilo Ave, Strathfield) sold for $6.8 million in February 2014. It doesn’t have much green lawn to mow, but it has a lot of beautiful hedges to tidy and bushes to prune (that I’m sure they booked a professional gardener to help with). It’s an absolutely gorgeous property and it’s easy to see why it made it into a feature on News.com.au.

 

 

Here’s another home on Strathfield’s Golden Mile with a multimillion dollar price tag. At the time of writing, this home was on RealEstate.com.au, listed by real estate agent House 18 – Sydney. It’s a grand European-style family estate on a private 3,000 square metres. Its hedges and entrance is even more exquisite than 23025 Llandilo Ave. The picture, to me, is reminiscent of movies where you see the family enjoying the spoils of a live-in maid, gardener, butler, chauffeur and nanny!

 

 

Alongside the pool, the backyard has a decent sized green, grassy lawn for the kids to run around and for the gardener to mow, whipper snipper and refine the lawn edges with precision.
